CYSO on tour
The CYSO has a history of touring locally and globally. Taking our music out into the communities near and far provides a unique opportunity for our students. Benefits of the intensive rehearsals and concerts include cultural education, character development, adventure and refined musical skills.
Our touring musicians are selected based on not just their musical abilities but also their propensity for cooperation and attitude.
Upcoming tours
Portugal 2023
This summer the Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra will be going on tour in Porto Portugal. Currently there are a few spots available on the tour and we would like to offer the vacancies to music students in Anne Arundel County. The cost is $2,600 and payment plans are accepted. The tour dates are Thursday, July 6 to Friday , July 14, flying from Washington Dulles International to Porto Portugal, and passports are required.
The tour schedule will consist of group rehearsals, sectionals, and master classes each morning with the Portuguese Philharmonic, who will be there to coach and work with our students. led by famed conductor Osvaldo Ferreira. After lunch, we’ll tour a different part of the city each day. At the conclusion of each day, we’ll enjoy dinner together, and allow free time for the students. On our last evening, we’ll perform side-by-side in a concert with the Portuguese Philharmonic, joined by a renowned soloist from Portugal.
If interested, we do require an audition before we can accept any student on the tour. Attached to this email is a flyer with all the necessary information. Feel free to share it with your students and families. Please act fast as these spots will go quickly!
